I agree. Wood and Burns just didn't convince as brothers. Someone like Josh Hartnett, Nick Stahl or Jared Leto would've been better in my opinion

Think the idea was that he was his kid brother. like 10 or so years younger therefore emphasizing on Francis's instinct to protect his baby brother.Do agree that the chemistry wasnt there between the characters and even some one less known would have done with Burns providing the Stars name to the credits.
Its just his voice, way to soft.

Elijah wood was poorly cast but I believe it was a financing decision. Let's face it, he was the big star yet the worst actor. A name like that does provide opportunities for films to be made.

I totally agree. The closest actor I have seen, to looking and behaving like Ed Burns, is Patrick Wilson. I thought they were great in Purple Violets and could easily play brothers in future films. But I am sure Ed is done with the 'brother' films...shame..

Totally agree. Wood is just the wrong actor to play this role. I liked everything else about the film, but it was spoiled by one bad casting decision.

I agree. Elijah Wood is miscast. I didn't believe it anymore after his character entered the story.
I picked up the DVD years ago and really liked the audiocommentary by Edward Burns.

He was OK but didnt fit in with the rest of the cast at all. Damn sure didnt look like he should be married to Rosario Dawson.
