Is it me or he seems to be gay?

Tonight I was watching the film and at the begining, Stuart Townsend or his character seems to be Gay... very gay, the way he walk, he moves, he smile, he talk, everything... but just at the begining... I watched it with two friends of mine... and we all said... oh he is so gay... I'm not saying this as an insult or anything, but we all thought that at the same time... and we thought that the role of Stuart Townsend was a gay man (really) then, two minutes later he kissed Theron and we tought "ok, he's not already out of the closet"... Also there's a scene where Bacon says to Theron "No ofense but I don't think he knows what to do with you" or something like that... and then again we all tought "yes because he's Gay".

Stuart is fabulous! How dare thee!
JK:)
But i didn't think he was gay.

"Peas on my head, but don't call me a peahead!"

reply

I thought so too. Look at him in A League of Extrodinary Gentleman. Reguardless he is an awesome actor dating one of the most beautiful actress in recent history. Gay or not, as a couple they rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

I really hate to break the news to you, but people aren't gay because of the way they walk, smile and talk. That's just about the most ignorant thing I've heard.

reply

And then there was the fact that he was married and had a child.
And, even if he didn't want to admit it, was rather attracted to Love's character...atleast before she turned out to be crazy XP

and having a child and be married with someone doesn't prove anything. There's a lot of mans that do that and they're still gay. Only that they cheat their wives and most of all themselves.

reply

It's not ignorant. You could agree or not. I don't know if you know (I don't know if you are gay, and that's why you answered that, you might felt insult or something, and then you insult me), but gay people have that 6th sense, we recognized each others even if that other person doesn't recognize themselves... it's a great coincidence that 2 gay people and other that has a lot of gay friends, think the same... and yes you are right people aren't gay because of the way they walk... etc. But somehow if you walk, talk, etc. like one, people could think that. And that's what we thought. And you are being very innocent or blind or hypocrite. The way of walk, talk, etc., it doesn't make us who we are, it's not a cause, but it's a consequence. We behave in different ways because of who we are. I'm not saying that if you're gay you have to be girly... but if you are girly there's a great chance you're gay.

reply

Honey, you are living proof that some of us are as ignorant as some straight people. We don't all have a sixth sense. We can't always tell about someone else. We don't all walk and talk like each other. Haven't you ever heard a straight bigot say, "I can spot one a mile away"? It isn't any truer for us than it is for them. The fact that you and your friends thought he was gay is just what you said, a coincidence. And being what you call "girly," which is a word homophobes love to use on us, doesn't mean someone is gay. What makes us gay is on the inside, period. Really, you have to get over yourself and grow up.

In response to ragreen259...

First of all, I seriously doubt that was the most ignorant thing you have ever heard. Considering there is some truth to his statement. Clearly people are not gay because of the way they walk, talk, and smile; However, there are certain characteristics effeminate or not that can be found in some gays. Including (but not limited) the way they talk, walk, the way they carry themselves, general movements, or even smiles Although this is not the case for all gay people and it certainly does not make them gay as a result of it.... it is definitely true for some. Moral of the story is you should not call people ignorant when they are in fact correct for the most part because it would seem you are the ignorant one.

Good day sir.

He may not be the most macho guy in the world, but Townsend's character was not gay and Townsend and Theron are together in real life.

It is so sickening to me how these gays scream at you when you call them gay. What on Earth for?

But back to the chap playing a doc. Who was the casting dirtector, as he/she should be the one persecuted -- or worrse. For starters, either the guy IS gay, or he LOOKS and SOUNDS and ACTS 100% gay, you are so right about that, Nicolas. This should have been a movie about him coming to terms with his gayness, not about how he is such a wretched pilot.

Also, his accent places him anywhere from 7,000 to 9,000 miles from where the heck he should be living the high life at.

I don't buy him for a Portland second as a genious doc. Maybe a quack?

He is also a cheapskate -- his daughter's life apparently does not worth $250Gs to him, does it?

Oh, and did I say that he looks and sounds so very gaaaaaaay!!! Yummy!!!

reply

It is usually the gays that pick out the gays. So if you say he is, then must be true about you too. There are so many people that sound the way they do when talking, and it does not mean they are gay at all. You can have a normal sounding guy, and still he would be gay. So this pointing things out that you probably know nothing about them at all is stupid.

If he is gay, then so are you. Funny, how some of these people only come out of the closet when they want to take it out on someone else. Usually the mean people are the ones that are actually doing what they talk about others. It is called "Hiding the truth about themselves" or should say in denial.

I am a gore watching freak!!!

If it don't have it, it isn't worth the watch.

this may shed some light on your inquiry: from the biography section of Stuart Townsend, it says

Studied drama at the Gaiety School of Acting, Dublin, Ireland.

(sorry, i just couldn't help it)
