new series???

does any one know when or if there is a new series???

reply

Hi - I don't know when the new series is either, apparently there is going to be another. At the end of the last one they said the new series would be shown later next year (2004) so I can only assume there has definatley been another commissioned,
It really is one of the best progs around, great acting, (especially Vicky Hall) great storylines, also when is series 3 going to be released on DVD, it would keep me going whilst waiting for the new series. HELP !!

Channel 4 are currently advertising sponsorship opportunities for a fourth series (9 episodes) of Teachers in November 2004. So the answer is yes.

reply

According to play.com it'll be out on the 8th of November, 2004.

Yeh there is a new series coz I'm being an extra/pupil in it. It should be shown sometime in October.

Me? I'm just honest, and a dishonest gal you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly.:D

reply

Can you tell us anything about it? Are Kurt and Brian still in it?

reply

Not sure at the mo but I'll find out when filming starts.

This is an interview with Navin Chowdhry. It seems that Kurt, Brian and Matt will not be in season 4.

reply

That's true, unfortunately. (It also appears that Andrew Lincoln has cut his ties with the show altogether.)

If it's any consolation, they all have replacements:
Ewan (Lee Williams), Ben (Matthew Horne) and Damien (Daon Broni).

(Thanks to thecustard.tv, I have all this information.)

Don't lose hope yet. The switcharound may work in the show's favour (although few shows I've seen have ever done as much cast-switching as Teachers).

My take on the situation is that it's good to write new characters, to prevent the show from going stale, but such a thing is also bad for continuity.

I think my article on Teachers may be a good reply to some of your points about the characters. Feel free to read it if you want.

(Unfortunately, it was written not long after Series 3 went off the air, so it's kind of out of date.)

If you're interested, you can find it at:

http://www.geocities.com/weloveteachers/teacherslikethese.html

It's on a Teachers fansite, a site which I consider the best for Teachers on the web at present. It was also published in a magazine.

Thanks, I'm flattered, but the website is not mine - it was actually set up by someone else. I just contribute regularly to it.

Hmmmmmm......A series of Teachers without Simon, Brian, Kurt, Susan or Jenny? Even the weaker characters from the third series seem to be leaving, yet still they insist on releasing a new series. I can only imagine how poor this is gonna be.

Lost all the original actors? Then create a different programme.

reply

this series was ok the new character Ben is the only one that can match simon brian kurt and co, the other new people are no as good but on the whole not bad at all bob takes a larger role in the whole things which adds another angle to the show!
