On Friday the 13th Luke's locker is broken and Luke gets 13 for a new one, to his dread. He feels dizzy when opening it for the first time and sees a strange face in its mirror but then finds a charm labeled "Fatemaster Lucky Charm" inside, with a picture of the person on the case label whose eyes briefly glow. He beats his tough opponent in wrestling and is invited to a party and kissed by a girl he likes that day, and gets a call saying he won a radio contest the next. But Monday he's pulled into the locker into a dark room by the Fatemaster, who says he's responsible for his good luck and needs him to pass the charm onto his best friend Jeff so he can take over his life source next, or he'll take over Luke's. Luke refuses so gets weaker. The Fatemaster says he'll be defeated when he loses his wrestling-match to his rival. Jeff makes an offhand remark about how, even if all that were true, he's better off than the science class' frog to be dissected that afternoon after school. Luke convinces his coach to let him wrestle despite his poor state and suffers cramps, but when the frog is dissected at the same time, he abruptly recovers and wins, and the Fatemaster is sent thwarted back into the locker, though his voice calls that he'll return. Luke fed the frog the charm so at its death, the Fatemaster was defeated. The science teacher finds and is baffled by it.
