Lonesome Dove

I know I am very late watching Lonesome Dove, but that's OK as I am thoroughly enjoying every bit of all the DVD's, and now that I have watched almost all of them, (Deadman's Walk on the way), I'm wanting to know if more will come, as Newt Call obviously will marry Mattie and continue his life in Curtis Wells so
there is lots of room for continuing the story of his life as Sheriff and all that could come from that, including Clay Mosby who I thought was perfect in his role. I can't get enough of Lonesome Dove and sure want more, I love the westerns, and this one definitely draws one into the story and I now feel that I am part of their lives , and I don't want it to stop.

I just bought the book "Lonesome Dove", there is no "Return to Lonesome Dove", so I imagine both stories are included in the book. I have "Streets of Loredo"
and "Comanche Moon". Where does Comanche Moon fit into the group, as I haven't read it yet, and cannot find a DVD with that title.

I am looking forward to hearing from other Lonesome Dove fans to share info.

Supposedly Deadman's Walk was the first when Gus & Call met each other as not much more than kids. Then is Comanche Moon when I take it the two are in their 30's. Then is Lonesome Dove when their in their 50's I would guess followed by Streets Of Laredo where Call is obviously old, maybe in his 70's but still tougher than nails.

As far as I can tell, Return To Lonesome Dove was made for TV to soak up some more money that Lonesome Dove started. It wasn't even written by McMurtry. Not a bad movie though considering.

I have read all the books and enjoyed all BUT Deadman's Walk, thought it was awful. I watched the movie and found it was just as bad. Everyone I know who has read the trilogy says the same thing. I just about quit reading a dozen times but forced myself to finish. Don't think it was worth the effort.

There are two television series, which tells the further stories of Newt

You don't have to wait long. Commanche has just finished filming. Probably will air 2007.

So I'm wondering .... why are we talking about 'Lonesome Dove' on a board that is supposed to be about 'Johnson County War'? 'Lonesome Dove' is a fine movie and I am sure you would get a better response over there on the board for it, cause I'm sure thats where the 'Lonesome Dove' fans and critics are hanging out.

.... Just My Two Cents.
