2004 Dragon Boxes

Don't know if anyone is aware, but in 2004 in Japan only, the series was released in limited edition DVDs called "Dragon Boxes".

These were truer to the original broadcasts than any other home video release of the series, before or after. Each episode featured a preview for the next episode (though granted, it was moved to after the end credits, when it was originally before, and the preview for the first episode of Dragon Ball Z is missing). Also both versions of the opening are intact, as are all four versions of the ending. The aspect ratio is also not badly zoomed in.

Toei threw away clean versions of opening 2, endings 1, 3 and 4. The series never looked right with each episode beginning with opening 1 and finishing with ending 2. In the 4th and final ending (episodes #133-#153), Goku and his friends were all grown up.

You can see in my youtube channel all the Dragon Ball openings (2) and endings (4), original japanese release with credits, from my first personal collection, but I'm not sure if it's against the rules to let the url here... you can look if you want my username in youtube, it is the same.

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language IMDb = Catch-22
