this a plagerism

i watch this tv show every night and i think is a rip off from batman, roger smith is a cheap copy of bruce wayne, his butler is even a cheaper copy of alfred and without mention the song at the beginning is a "parody" of the flash gordon theme by queen. any one else notice this?

"THE WORLD IS MINE AND EVERYTHING IN IT"
-TONY MONTANA-

"I'LL MAKE HIM AN OFFER HE WON'T REFUSE"
-VITO CORLEONE-

"YOU TALKIN' TO ME?"
-TRAVIS BICKLE-

"I KNOW KUNG FU"
-NEO A.K.A THE NE-

I did notice that Norman the butler does seem very similar to Alfred, but I also heard that this series was partly inspired by Batman. Usually I'm the first person to dump on an anime, but this is too good and there are too many differences for to be called a rip-off. I'll have to find out about the Queen song...

If you have watched the whole thing though, I think you wouldn't find it to be plagerism. I only assume you haven't watched it all the way though. Inspired by Batman as in the design for Roger and Norman and the cities in the domes.

If you're going to insult something, at least spell certain words like "plagiarism" correctly.

SCARFACE1983,

1) Where exactly are the similarities between Roger Smith and Bruce Wayne? One is a negotiator who happens to possess a giant robot, the other dresses up as a bat, hmmm...I'll admit they both happen to be stylish bachelors who look good in a suit, but I doubt that's been copyrighted by BM.

2)secondly spell plagiarism right next time, plus the "a" is unecessary in your topic.

3) Did Batman ever have androids?

4)What's with all the quotes and gun emoticons. hmmm.

5) If the minor similarities between Batman and Big O bother you enough to make a thread about it on the IMDB, then why do you still watch it every night?

Did Quentin Tarantino plagiarize by making Kill Bill? I think the similarities are all intended. The show is made for people like you who know to enjoy even more. You may start wondering with the character backgrounds but get convinced with the theme song. Didn't you?

Everyone should read what silver lemonade just posted.

They used the same simplified Bruce Timm style, which is a good thing because it means anime is starting to become more varied and not cheap cookie-cutter fluff.

i do think that batman influenced this series, yes. i wouldn't go as far as calling it plagerism because then everything would be plagerism.

reply

And plagerism is not how you spell plagiarism. *beep* knobs.

I do believe someone on the Big O crew admitted to being inspired by the style of Batman. I think that it was made that obvious as a point, yet the universe and story is far different.

Perhaps hommage is a less controvertable term.

It also recalls the anime OVA "A Wind Called Amnesia", where humanity suddenly loses all memories except for basic eat-drink-survive.

And the 80's cult comic MICRA, with society broken into the elite who live under climate controlled domes and the common folk who live outside in ruins of the former civilization. MICRA is a flying android powered by the brain of a handicapped college aged female.

And Astroboy, a robot with human personality living in a world where similar robots co-habitate with mainstream humanity.

And Mazinga Z, a huge non-flying manipulated robot laden with secret weapons piloted by one special individual.

Oh, and one more...
Beck is plainly a Lupin III parody.
