Why NOT direct-to-video?

Because it isn't better than a lot other sequels, like Aladdin 2-3 and TLM2-3.

It doesn't even look better than them, TLM3 has much better animation.

So why did they release this piece of **** in the cinemas, but not the Aladdin and TLM sequels?

The Disney leaders today are idiots...

No the head of Disney animation today is the smartest they have ever had.

Han Solo ain't never had no sex with Princess Leia in the Star War

That's what they said before to Toy Story 2 and The Jungle Book 2 before it was decided by Disney that they wanted to put it straight to theaters rather than DVDs.

Life's what you make it, so let's make it right! Hannah Montana quote from the show

I believe this and jungle book 2 were made for Direct to DVD hence the low budget 20M when today's theater animations are well over 100M.

These movies probably did well in test audiences so they decided to release them in theaters. It looks as it paid off putting crap out there a slapping a classics name on it will gross over 100M worldwide.
