Is it too difficult/sad to watch?

This movie sounds excellent, and it highly praised by both critics and audiences alike, but I wonder if the subject matter is too grim to really recommend.

Not that grim. At least not here in México. And it is one of the few mexican films that are quite good, so watch it!
