Mulan changes even more than Shang!

I'm betting this topic has been talked about but I really do have to reiterate how much Mulan's personality changed!

I felt like she depended more on Shang and everything was about how Shang wanted it to be; I mean, in Mulan I, it seemed she was the warrior who didn't care about rules and regulations and was successful. But in this, she's the girl who cares more about love and how society can be.....was this done on purpose?
