Casting for New Movie

Hello,

I know most of us have heard about the upcoming movie currently in production, does anyone have any ideas for casting? I was ecstatic that Rent had it's original broadway cast, but i have a feeling that for this they're gonna look for some big names in at least some of the roles.

People have been talking about Hugh Jackman possibly for the leading role, I saw him in The Boy From Oz and also the DVD of Oklahoma, and he is good, I think he would be able to play the role of Jekyll and also be able to do a good transformation into Hyde (based on the darker side he portrays in roles such as Van Helsing). And although he does have a good voice, I wasn't sure if it was right for this role, He is a tenor, but is a strong tenor who can hit High A's? I've never heard him do it, but I guess that doesn't mean he can't. If he was perfect for the part otherwise they could lower the notes a little I suppose.

Other than him, I can't think of any big screen names who could play the roles just because there aren't too mainly film actors who can sing very good, I'm a big theatre person so I could easily pick broadway people, but they wouldn't be big names to everyone.

Maybe Michael Caine for Sir Danvers? that may get some people's attention and it's not that difficult vocally.

I personally think Kristen Chenoweth would be cute as Emma/Lisa Currew (depending on whihc version they do). Although a lot of people only know her as a broadway singer, she has a masters in Opera Performance and is an amazing soprano, so she would be good, and some people would recognize her nowadays.

what do all of you think?

Morgan Freeman was made for Utterson, wasn't he?

Also, I think Adam Pascal could be a good Jekyll.

And now for something completely different- a man with three buttocks.

I loooooooove Adam Pascal, but I don't think he's right for this part and I don't think he'd like to plsy it either, he usually only likes to do Rock sounding shows

reply

i don't think Adam could portray Hyde well..maybe Jekyll...maybe...

Id go with Hugh Jackman for the movie. Although the role is baritone not tenor. Im a baritone and i can manage it all quite easily. Actually im hoping to do it next year.

I would say original cast. R.C. as jekkyl still gives me chills, and George Merrit is perfect. Much better than Morgan Freeman, since Morgan wasn't in Porgy and Bess on Broadway. No one can replace Linda Eder though. Coleen Sexton sucked.

Geoffrey.

Let's not Hassle the Hoff with the film role...

i DONT want Hasslehoff to be in the movie..he already ruined the musical version..

johhny depp is sexy<33

I would LOVE to agree with you... especially on the Linda Eder thing... being that not only is she amazing in that role... but all of her CD's are amazing as well... and I have seen her in concert twice... but the issue comes in when considering the age factor... Lucy was written for Linda... but she was written for a much younger Linda...

reply

oh GOD! Hugh Jackman as Jekyll & Hyde...that's PERFECT! hahaaa...i'll like how you're thinking!

reply

Who care's about Hugh.
Anthony Warlow needs to do this movie, since he never played the role on stage.

reply

Gabriel Mann(or Mick) as J&H, Siri Svegler as Lucy and Hayley Westenra as Emma.

reply

They're making a movie? Really? *faints*

Does seem a shame to lose somethin so fine don't it? So Kraken I'll be havin Jack back before ye go

The question I want to ask, is why actors, playing Wildhorn's British main heroes (Jekyll and Hyde, the Scarlet Pimpernel), don't care about accents. Accents are a part of acting and they miss it! There are some who're the same among classic American actors, like Gregory Peck, Tyrone Power, Spencer Tracy, etc. I get the reason why Dick van Dyke gave up the accent matter in CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, but as for other guys... why???
