Some historical perspective

I recently caught this film on the Arts channel. It was so bizarre - it seemed like a car commercial on LSD! But then, my curiosity duly being pricked (and we all know how painful that is), I did a quick search on the Internet and discovered that this film was a product of the General Motors Motorama, an annual auto show that was staged in several major U.S. cities, from 1949-1961. Apparently several of the shows had an "official" film. This particular film, Design for Dreaming, was the official film for the 1956 Motorama show.

You can read more about it at these links:

The "Design for Dreaming" film is available for viewing on YouTube (you'll also find the MSTK3 version which skewers it). You can also find "A Touch of Magic", the official film for the 1961 Motorama.
