There's not much continuity. Only between the first 3 films, really. They're about a cult of kids worshipping a monster in a cornfield. Although part 3 goes off the rails with the kids going to the 'hood and plant satellite cornfields so He Who Walks can pop up in any city he wants to, and ends with evil corn being shipped all over the world. The only logical part 4 would have been "cornworld" a Mad Max like future where survivors eke out existence on scraps of food and old relics of technology, except the whole world is a cornfield instead of a desert.
But instead part 4 ignored He Who Walks and gave us the story of a boy preacher who was killed by the townsfolk and came back as a ghost, possessed their children and tried to kill all the folk out of revenge. Sort of like Freddy Krueger.
Part 5 returns to Gatlin and the kids worshipping He Who Walks who this time manifests as a flame in a corn silo that always burns but doesn't consume anything around it. I think these are supposed to be children of the original children but for some reason they are being led by David Carradine who would have been in his 30s or 40s when the first movie came out so he shouldn't be part of the "under 18" club either way. But then his head splits open and shoots fire and he collapses in a dead husk so Adam Wylie takes over for him. Then he gets killed and the rest of the Corn Kids walk off into the sunset with no plans.
Part 6 also deals with children of the children, Isaac returns although I think his body was vaporized the first time, they explain that he's been in a coma since the first movie. He wakes up when one of the children of the children returns to town to fulfill a prophecy about siring the first grandchild of the children to lead the cult into the next generation. Stacy Keach is the old town doctor who said he helped the girl escape Gatlin in the first place which doesn't make much sense what with all the adults in Gatlin being killed in the first movie. Teenage kid claims to be He Who Walks at the end. Fireball goes off, people die, who is left? Don't really know.
Part 7 takes place somewhere else with no cornfields. Story is about a cult of kids killed in a fire and their ghosts coming back to kill one of the kids who got away and her granddaughter who should never have been born because granny should have been killed in that fire with the rest of the kids. Something about He Who Walks is mentioned but it's not clear if these kids have anything to do with the original children or not.
