Why so many!?

Was looking at the cable channel the other day and noticed there was a Children of the corn Marathon. I was surprised that so many had been made(having only seen the first two), and astounded that anyone would even bother making more(although admittedly they are direct to video)considering there isn't anywhere interesting for the story to go.

Would have thought most people would have better things to do like throwing their money down the drain and watching paint dry.

And don't anybody compare this to the Halloween, Friday 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street franchises, cuz at least they had cult, supernatural killers, not a bunch of monotone, psycho redneck kids.

True that. The children of the corn series is a piece of rubbish. They should really have finished this series off after the second movie in my opinion because the others just dont make any sense at all.

i thought this series was hella better than the friday the 13ths. they were crap who wants to watch some emotionless killer walk arond killing people pointlessy. Freddy Michael and leatherface at least they could do something to show that there still there nd we all no supernaural stuffs not real wat if the kids did rise up nd kill us all

OMG...I want the 2 hrs. of my life back! sheesh what an umitigated piece of crap! I can't even put into words how stupid and overly cliched this movie is. AVOID it at all costs..it was too late for me..It was on the tivo and when I fast forwarded it, I was too far into it to just not see how it turned out....I should have gone with my instincts. Live and learn.

Good question! When I was 12-15 or so, I liked the movie, but grew out of it fairly fast, and I don't think I know anyone older than 21 who really likes it (I'm referring to the original, btw). Considering the first movie was based off a *short* by Stephen King, I don't really understand who asked for (or watches) these sequels. Definitely the strangest case of sequelitis I've ever seen . . .

reply

Well, I love the series and I'm 32. I just don't care for the remake but all the originals I love.

the remake was more accurate to the story and was a good movie in my opinion

Old thread, but I digress....I really like most the sequels in the COTC series. My favorite it part 4 and I really like Revelation as well. Im a huge fan of Naomi Watts and may be biased, but it also has a more cohesive story line. I think it's great to look for the stars in these films before they were famous...Linda Hamilton in Part 1, Charlize Theron is part 3, Watts in part 4, and Eva Mendes in part 5. However cliched Revelation may be, it's a very studio looking movie with decent acting, easy to follow storylines, okay effects, but it's the none cheap looking camera stock that pushes it above your standard dtv movie. It's like when Paramount and Full Moon used to work together and gave us slightly better than average genre fare. Dimension in the late 90s and early 00s was my Full Moon for a new decade with the Dracula, Prophecy, Children of the corn, and Hellraiser sequels. All these shot with digital low budget movies of today look like spanish soap operas with bad actors and crummy cgi. Where's my next decade of quality dtv flicks?

Well, I like all of the COTC films and think it's one of the best franchises out there. It doesn't get the amount of appreciation all the Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Halloween franchises get but to me it's right up there with them in terms of quality. I don't think there are any truly bad Children of the Corn films. Some are better than others of course, but they're all fun to watch in their own unique ways. Part III is actually my favorite of the series and one of my favorite horror movies of all time. I don't see why so many people seem to hate this franchise because I find it very satisfying.
