Different movie THE CALLING opened - Not Chapa's

I'm a huge Dunaway fan and have been waiting for this film to open somewhere or finally go to vhs/dvd. Just by a fluke, I saw in the Houston Chronicle that a film was opening Friday Oct. 10th called THE CALLING. I got excited and thought, "Great, finally". Then the next day, the paper said THE CALLING was about a woman giving birth to the antichrist and my heart sank because I knew that wasn't the subject of the Dunaway film. Then, just to make sure, I went to the IMDB and lo and behold the SHOWTIMES link was highlighted and it turns out that it is the Damian Chapa/Faye Dunaway film after all. So the Houston Chronicle got the subject of the movie wrong!God, how I miss the now defunct Houston Post! The Chronicle got it confused with a film made in 2000 that's already out on dvd. So today I check the Weekend Section of the paper and there are no reviews of the film and absolute zero advertising to let the 4 and half million people who live in this area know that it's playing. How is a picture suppose to do any business if there is ZERO promotion? Especially on a weekend where KILL BILL and INTOLERBALE CRUELTY are opening? I am leaving in about half an hour to see the film and will post a review after that. According to the IMDB, the only city THE CALLING is playing in this week is Houston. I wonder what's going on with the distribution of this film? Once again, how can people be expected to pay to see this film in Houston if no one knows it's opening? Even the official site for RICO FILMS is defunct. Damian Chapa where are you? Let's hope his next film EL PADRINO (also with Dunaway but in a cameo) gets better treatment from whoever is controlling distribution and promotion.
UPDATE: I got to the theater, no poster or any promotional items. Movie starts up and it is about a black Gospel singer. TOTALLY THE WRONG MOVIE. WHEN WILL THIS BE RELEASED? The IMDB had showtimes listed for Chapa's Calling but it was the wrong one.

Damian Chapa is now at ROSEBUD Pictures. At rosebudpictures.com.
He is doing amazing work and getting great casts all on his own.

Okay, this last post was about a year ago, I know, but... Do you realize that Dunaway's role in this film was no more than a slightly extended cameo, as well? I know, I was on the set when she was there. Over a total of no more than 24 hours we shot out all four or so of her scenes, probably ten minutes of screentime, and that's about it. So, you might not want to get your hopes up.

Also, this was supposed to be showing at the independent film festival at NKU (Northern Kentucky University) last month, but then it was cancelled due to the scheduling issues with so many films in one day at that festival... or something screwy. So it wasn't shown then, but word is, it's going to be shown someplace else soon... Still waiting for more info...

That's the link I received for more info on that topic.

That's all for now.

And by the way: did anyone actually respond to my post about how to get my credit listed? Do I have to be a registered Imdb actor or something? I just want to be able to put it on my acting resume that I was onscreen in this film, but I'm not listed with a screen credit, only a behind the screen credit. Anyone, help...

Thank you jfoughty for the information. I wondered how extensive her part was considering she was playing Mae West and Jenkins only knew her through a couple of meetings. I don't understand why Chapa gave her second billing, that's truly misleading...... I still want to see if of course, but I am getting tired of waiting for the film to open, especially if Dunaway has only a cameo.
On another topic:
Does anyone know what the deal is with Chapa? He has all these films he has directed and starred in, but none of them come out? He's got different websites sabevadistribution.com and rosebudpictures.com touting these films but their is never any updated information.

Call your union rep at SAG. As a dues paying member of SAG, if you
have a major non-speaking role, you should get your screen credit.

Only in the case of people who sign a "SAG Waiver" contract, so that
a non-union member can perform on the film, then they are not entitled
to a credit (that is what most "SAG Waiver" contracts plainly state).
Plus people who sign a "SAG Waiver", do not get credit for the screen
presense for SAG membership (and hense, they would not even get a
retroactive credit or a SAG card).

Hope this helps,
