I just saw this movie on Chiller but I wasn't paying a lot of attention. I get the girlfriend wasn't real and the family and all that but what about his friend/roomate.
It looks like he was real but that he killed him out of paranoia. Also, IF the girlfriend wasn't real WHO called the apartment before he left? Who put the flaregun and the pack of stuff outside? If he had a mental break then he wouldn't have the forethought to do all stuff so who did? Did his roommate do it knowing he was gonna break and for some reason wanting to punish the guy and it backfired? Am I perhaps overthinking a bad movie?

I know it's three years later, but remember (if you hadn't rewatched the movie) that the roomie mentioned he didn't hear the phone ring.
