H.P. lovecrafts name to shame

I'm a big lovecraft fan, and i have read the story this was "suposed" to be based after, i found it to be the single worst adaptation of lovecraft i have ever seen and as a movie it self was even worse then that.

I guess the point of my post is to see if anyone else thought this movies was done totaly wrong. i mean i will say lovecraft does tend to be very dark, but this story for some reason when i read it althought dark was much more humain than the movie potraid it.

Id love any kinda input others may have or at least to hear someone agree with me on this.

I couldn't agree more. I loved the short story when I read it, thought it was fantastic and Lovecraft is one of my favorites. But this movie gives him a bad name, a very bad name. Sucha waste!!!! I was really looking forward to a movie version of the story to.

Movie makers do tend to completely destroy any novel they can get their hands on (See "Book of Blood", for example--terrible). Just because Lovecraft is dead does not mean they should just "adapt" his writings into whatever they want. They should write their own terrible dribble if they want to make a cheap movie so badly.

Stephen King is one of the only authors I have ever seen who will stand up and insist that his writings are adapted well. He even paid out-of-pocket for Kingdom Hospital to avoid network people getting too involved in its production.
