Funny cross-promotion

I find it funny that this was the name of a film because I remember waiting in a Cineplex Odeon threatre's lounge and I think they had called one of their concessions "Who is Alan Smithee?" or it was a slogan. The name might have been slightly altered, but it did have me curious but I think I heard the answer that is mentioned in one of the reviews, that he's this guy that's credited in a bunch of movies.
