Similar Anime?

I'm really in the mood for another Romantic Comedy similar to Love Hina. I loved LH's comedy, but sincere romantic side towards the end.

Someone recommended my School Rumble. Is this a good choice? Any other animes I should watch out for?

reply

haha Romantic Comedies are fun in anime-style.

Fruits Basket is one.
School Rumble is good, but I never watched an episode.

I've seen Love Hina and School Rumble (keepin up with 2nd Season), but I haven't seen Fruits Basket.

If you want harem anime, there are tons out there like Suzuka, Ichigo 100%, and Ai Yori Aoshi. I've only seen Ai Yori Aoshi, and I can tell you that it's reaaaally good =D.

Maybe you'd like Full Metal Panic as well if you want action and romance, mostly action though =/.

Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances) is a good one for the first half of the series, but the second half isn't as strong, and it ends in the middle of a story arc not finished except in the manga.

You might like Honey and Clover.

School Rumble is mostly just constant comedy.

An anime similar in genre is Tenchi Muyo or Chobits. Tenchi, Love Hina, and Chobits are my three favorite animes in the world! Tenchi fits under more of the harem anime and Tenchi seems like a less-akward Keitaro to me, but still highly enjoyable. Chobits is probably my absolute favorite, less harem, more magical girlfriend genre, but still, it's absolutely wonderful. Starts out looking like a fluff romantic comedy but later reveals true deeper thought. I would highly recommend either.

One last tip, you can find all Love Hina, Chobits, and probably some Tenchi episodes on Youtube. I feel kind of bad ripping the anime companies off, but getting the DVDs are far too expensive for me.

well it's a bit on the unusual side, but Full Metal Panic!/Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu/Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid is a really really good anime.

It does have mechs and fighting, but at its core is a love story between the
2 main characters.

not too mention Sousuke Sagara's blatant disregard for normal behavior
is hilarious.

i mean seriously, who blows up his own locker thinking a terrorist tampered with it.

You might also enjoy Steel Angel Kurumi and the ever-popular Ranma 1/2... Both are romantic comedies and I think you'll enjoy them.

I recommend Ranma 1/2 and Maison Ikkoku. Ken Akamatsu was inspired by these to when he wrote Love Hina.

reply

There are even some homages to Ikkoku in Hina, Kitaro's "bad hand" joke from the first few episodes being the first one that comes to mind.

Watch Fruits Basket. It may be about a woman amongst men, rather than a man amongst women, but it is quality. You don't have to watch it immediately, but makesure you watch it before you are dead. Otherwise your inanimate corpse will regret it.
