A Warm-up Exercise?

I know that this show is not the best sci-fi series but it was the only one at the time to come out of Australia, a country not noted for production of sci-fi of any sort. That said, it was a great warm up for a better known series "H2O: Just Add Water which IMHO was 100% improvement. Unfortunately, Australian sci-fi and drama remains an acquired taste with only a few diamonds in the rough like the above two shows. If only the acting was a bit better these shows would have been standouts. At least H2O shows that series from Australia are improving.

The truth is out there.

If you like H2O then you’ll love the new Elephant Princess made by the same people who did H2O. We can’t get it here in the States yet, but were hoping soon. You can see the trailer here.

Also I have Spellbinder and it was a great Sci-Fi and it came out of Australia and don’t forget Thundrestone and of course we can’t forget Round The Twist…Not so much Sci-Fi as Fantasy but still good fun.

All the best.

"Australia, a country not known for producing sci-fi of any sort"?

Years before Cybergirl (which I actually thought was really well-written (apart from the repeated and rather vague "Hollywood hacking" by Cy and the two 3000's), I also loved watching two other great Aussie sci-fi shows - Halfway Across the Galaxy and Turn Left, and The Girl From Tomorrow.

At least Cybergirl got a relatively quick release (about 6 years after it debuted in Oz), as opposed to TGFT (aired in about '92, released on DVD about 14 years later I think?) and Halfway which has still NEVER had a full release (only the first 8 episodes were released on VHS in the mid/late-90s).

To continue from the previous... many of these were co-productions... not sure about Cybergirl and The Girl from Tommorow, but Thunderstone and Spellbinder were. Other Australian Sci-Fi series:

Escape from Jupiter (1994), and its sequel Return to Jupiter (1997) – a co-production with NHK Japan, so far only Escape from Jupiter has been released as a 90min TV-movie.

Skytrackers (1994) released as a series by ACTF (Australian Children’s Television Foundation)

Wicked Science (2004-2006) (released as a 88min TV-movie)

Ocean Girl (1994-1997) released as 4 complete series, and an animated spin-off....

Silversun (2004) – so far no release.... and the series ends with a cliffhanger.

For the older people there are the series:

Time-Trax (1993-1994) – time travelling policeman set possibly in America, but filmed in Queensland (Australia) (like Ghost Rider is supposed to be in Texas, or similar, but was filmed in Melbourne, Victoria and the YouYangs in Victoria)
Or Ben Elton’s Stark, again made in Australia...

Across the dutch... (Kiwi Humour) there is are the series Time Trackers (2008-2010) these are a mixture of Australian and New Zealand actors... or PET Detectives (2003) neither of which have been released as ar as I know... then there is also The Amazing Extraordinary Friends (2006)– a New Zealand humorous Superhero show... starring David McPhail, better known to the world as Mr. Gormsby from Seven periods with Mr. Gormsby.

I used to watch Cybergirl, Ocean Girl, H20, Spellbinder, Out there, Sleepover Club, Outriders and loads of other australian shows when i was younger. The locations and atmosphere was awesome. My favorite show was "The Tribe", a New Zealand post-apocalyptic series about teenagers.
