That rubber bayonet...

Really ruins that first battle. Why, for the love of goodness why leave that in? Re shoot the scene if necessary. You can't miss it. Apart from the cavalry, there are only two infantrymen in the foreground, and one of them, right in the middle of the screen, has a damned rubber bayonet.

What really irks me is its the last thing you see as Stuarts cavalry charge across the plains in what would otherwise be a brilliantly shot scene. It really cheapens the experience and doesnt leave a good first impression. That bayonet wobbling around is like having a clown capering around at a funeral. I can't believe that Gettysburg, shot 10 years earlier with half the budget manages to avoid the dreaded rubber bayonet. Rant over.

It didn't. May not have been as obvious, but there were a few charge scenes in Gettysburg where the bayonets wibbled around. Look for the smash cuts right before hand-to-hand combat was joined.
