The Truce

Did that really happened, when the 2 soldiers met in the river exchanging tobacco and coffee?

Because of Silent Night. Or was it inspired by WWI, and included as a good scene?

I've heard that there were times whe Union and confederate troops exchanged words and even items during the War, so the scene in this film was meant to be a "composite" of those instances.

Thanks. Yes, it could also have worked the other way round. Anyway it was a good scene.
