When I first saw this show, I thought I was tripping on acid

It was 4:00 a.m. and I had adult swim on after watching family guy and American Dad. I dozed off and woke up to FLCL. It was so weird and so hard to follow, I thought I was on an acid trip. I found myself rubbing my eyes and asking myself every two minutes, "What the *beep* The only two animes I had ever watched was Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho, and enjoyed them a lot, and I also enjoyed watching FLCL. But d**n is this show weird.

Yea, its definitely one of those shows that you should smoke weed while watching.

I know OP will likely never see this, but I had a similar experience, but was also in a hotel room on a grueling travel job, so was very likely very sleep-deprived. Having had only seen maybe Akira and a handful of other anime at the time, it was truly like looking through a porthole to another dimension. Have watched a bunch of anime since, but haven't loved anything like FLCL, which remains a favorite audio-visual experience to this day.
