Best Scandinavian Films

Icelandic Films:
1. The Seagull's Laughter (Mávahlátur - eftir skáldsögu Kristínar Marju Baldursdóttur )
2. Devil's Island (Djöflaeyjan)
3. Noi the Albino (Nói albínói )
4. No Such Thing (OK, this was American, but much of the movie takes place in Iceland, and has some Icelandic actors)
5. The Sea (Hafið)

Other Scndinavian Films that I recommend:
1. Slim Susie (Smala Susie) My favorite Non-Icelandic film ; It is a cynical, dark comedy set in a small town in rural Swden.
2. Brødre (Brothers)- Danish
3. Arven (The Inheritence)- Danish and Swedish
4. Ondskan (Evil)- Swedish
5. Insomnia (original version)- Swedish/Norwegian
6. Gamle mænd i nye biler (Old Men in New Cars)- Danish
7. Blinkende lygter (Flickering Lights)- Danish
8. Festen (Celebration)- Danish
9. Young Gods- Finnish
10. Producing Adults- Finnish
The Finnish movies, I find, are a bit different from other Scandinavian films.
11. Reconstruction- Danish
That movie messes with your mind a little. I liked it, very different.
12. Green Butchers- Danish
Same genre as 'Old Men in New Cars' and 'Flickering Lights' dark comedy
13. Buddy
14. Uno
15. Hawaii, Oslo
These movies, #13-15 are Norwegian. They all have Aksel Hennie in them; he is a great actor.
16. 'Next Door' (Naboer)- Norwegian ; This may be a little gruesome; a dark, sick psychological movie
