This is the Highest-Rated Uwe Boll directed movie on IMDb.

And it got 4.5 out of 10.

That is sad.......

Earlier this evening, I was in the hall. I know because I was there.--Clue

Heart of America is an excellent film. Unfortunately the spiteful Boll-hating retards decided to rate it 1/10. Yes, Alone in the Dark and Bloodrayne sucked to an extreme (I'm guessing Dungeon Siege too), but this really was an excellent piece of work.

"Heart of America is an excellent film"

This is clearly some strange usage of the word 'excellent' that I wasn't previously aware of.

The movie is a pile of crap, though a slightly less steaming pile of crap than some of Boll's other movies. The only reason it's the highest rated is because so few people have seen it.

as I have mentioned on other posts, this film has the potential to be 'excellent', but it needs a heavy re-edit.

send me the footage if you have it all ;)

what would you plan on changing?

Nothing major, the film's well edited, I guess it's more or less just the opening sequence and closing sequence. Removing the voiceover, and shortening the relationship between the 'young lovers' with a baby problem.

This is a very strong, well acted film that won't get the respect it deserves because the posters hate Uwe's videogame movies. It would be nice to see it judged on its own merits but clearly, that will not happen anytime soon.

I liked this movie. I was surprised when I actually cared about the characters. Yes Boll has made some *beep* movies, but this is an exception. The script felt weak at times and the acting was sup par, but that did not stop me from liking this movie. The character development, however, is where this movie is superior to all of Uwe Boll's films. The violence, which Boll goes over the top with all the time, is tuned down to only approximately five minutes.

It's not great, but it is good.

The problem isn't that there's no people out there willing to judge each of Boll's films on their individual merits, the problem is we get casually lumped into the same category as blind, spiteful, Boll haters because it's easier to deal with us that way ...

... kinda like how typical Boll haters lump all of Boll's films into one big "crap" category, I might add.

I approach each of Boll's films with hopes that it'll be a turning point in my opinion. I even started off my BloodRayne review stating, "I am convinced Boll will eventually make a good movie", but so far he hasn't impressed me.

One thing I'm careful to point out in all of my reviews is that many of the things Boll chooses to do with his films are not inherently wrong, it's the fact he doesn't know where to stop. Like anything else, filmmaking is a balancing act ... and he does not know how to balance. I mean, without water you will die ... but is that any reason to tie yourself to an anchor and plunge to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean? Boll just takes everything to a ridiculous extreme.

That's why I actually have high hopes (dare I say -- I'm enthusiastic?) for Postal. Overkill tends to work better in comedies.

jaywriterXIII - I respect your opinion, and that's fine. I don't view you as a Böll hater. I'm not keen on most of his films either, with the exception of Heart of America and Amoklauf. He does have talent, but he's also very self-obsessed, and doesn't know the limits of his talent.

Postal did turn out to be very good (and side-splittingly funny), making it the first half-decent Böll video game adaptation.

The blind, spiteful Böll haters are the ones going "OMG Boll ruined my fave video game Im gonna rate all his films 1/10 altho Ive never seen em"

"May the furry tribbles be with you. Luke, trust the tribble!"

Jamyskis,

I honestly think even the worst of Boll's films could be elevated from bad into mediocre (maybe even good) simply by re-edited them. Maybe not anything groundbreaking or awe-inspiring, but at the very least on par with some of the mainstream stuff the Hollywood machine churns out.

Vincent Gallo's original cut of the Brown Bunny got one of the lowest scores at Cannes, yet the finished film drew positive reviews from the same critic who called it "the worst film I've ever seen at Cannes."

I bet someone could make Alone in the Dark into something worth watching. It'd be a neat experiment. And hey, people are putting their own cuts of Superman II up on Youtube so it's a possibility ...

Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I look forward to Postal. ;)

This was actually quite decent Uwe Boll movie. It had potential to be a lot better though...
