I've just seen Alone in the Dark. I checked for other Uwe's movies and found this flick with 6.1 points of user rating. Is this movie from same director as Alone in the Dark, one of the most terrible movies I ever saw?

Yes.I was shocked too.I've heard the worst things said about this guy but an actor I like was in "Heart of America" and people said it was good so I rented it.I gotta say,for such a crappy film maker,he sure made a great movie!!!Definately watch it.Amazing film.Very sad and very real.I don't know.Maybe Boll should stick to drama's.Or maybe he had a sudden talent attack!LOL.I can't explain how he made such a nice film when apparently,he sucks so much.But who care's who he is as long as the movie is good..and it IS!!

It surprisngly is. I don't know what happened with the dude, but this was actually an alright movie. It's hard to believe he made such a hard hitting movie like this but then went on to make b-horror movies like Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead. Makes no sense.

Holy crap, he made House of the Dead? That was some serious poo right there. I haven't seen Alone in the Dark, I can forsee that it's lame.
This movie however, rocked face. It was randomly reccommended to us at Blockbuster and I absolutely loved it. So sad and real. It's not what you'll find in most schools, but an accurate portrayal of things that happen in inner city schools and in extremely rural schools.

Not too bad considering he made Alone in the Dark--eek!! (The friggin' worst-ever) -this was ok--Columbine was deff in reference here , not too bad filmography/cinematography b/w to color--I give it a 5

this is probably his second worst movie. It is increidbly melodramitic, anti america (i have no rpoblem with slamming america, but this use a bunch of made up stuff to say america is bad, on top of that its not even an american making it!) and to make it seem more"gritty" and "real" it pushs a bunch of "controversial" topics that are not only out of place but also make the film less realistic(retarded girl rape? please). Its a great movie, if your retarded.

shareI thought Heart of America was a great movie, but it is not a movie for everyone. I would recamend this movie to anyone who likes dramas and is tired of seeing the typical teen movie whre the characters don't have any real problems. This movie shows how high school is for some kids. There's a reality in it that a lot of other movies about teenagers don't have and that's why it's a good movie.

shareI think this film shows that if Uwe would move on to other genres other than the "Video Game to Movie" category of film. He can pop out something half decent.
shareI've seen better films but I've seen a hell of a lot worse. What I do like is the fact that the film doesn't try to make Daniel or Barry into heroes. They whine, they beg... even Daniel's little moment of rebellion ends with him and Barry weeping like five-year-olds. (Which is okay, I think I'd weep too if someone was rubbing my face in cr*p!) Daniel is obviously deeply disturbed anyway and Barry's just a wuss, full stop.

shareI haven't seen this one, but I did see another of his pre-videogame movies, "Sanctimony" where Casper VanDiem plays a yuppie serial killer. That movie was pretty awful. Not as bad as HotD, but still pretty bad.
I guess the saying is true - even a broken clock is right twice a day.
It's a good film. I actually liked the direction in this one, it was definitely more professionally done than his video game work. That said, I'm not going to place it on my top 10 or anything, but I can say that it's worth watching even more than once.
