just saw a season 3 episode

I was flipping and saw a season 3 episode (no idea how far into the season it is) but it REALLY bothered me. The girls look way younger then the original cast ever did; i don't know who anyone is b/c everyone is recast; and the storyline's aren't that great. Basically it's like "we're fighting....we're fighting...we're fighting...well the episode is almost over so let's make up now...not resolving the conflict, but just by saying, 'hey, we're the saddle club!!' ". It was only one episode, but I'm still dissapointed.

Hi
I saw it too on PBS in Detroit, now on TVO in Ontario. They should have made them new characters, bring the old cast back now and then.

this max seems way too young for the part..he barely looks like he's older then the girls themselves.

and so does his mom.....mrs reg..the one playing her before, certainly suited the part...this one looks way out of her element..and there's no way i'd believe that she'd ever work in a horse stable......to boot..

why did they recast everyone...they definately neeeded to keep one of them the same and that should have been max and mrs reg

I know, Max looks like 20! He's supposed to be in his 30's as was the original Max!

I can not for the life of me figure out why they had to re-cast it. They should have done a Saddle Club revisited or something and kept all of the original actors (though sadly not Jessie Jacobs). It would have been a lot of fun seeing them older and being more advanced riders. Perhaps one had become a top show jumper, another part owner of Pine Hollow or maybe a famous singer. Max and Deborah (sp?) could have had a family. Veronica and Scooter might be an item. Kristi and Red could be going out with each other. Oh... the possibilities.

It certainly won't have that magical sparkle the first two-years had, that's for sure!

they actually did a few books called pine hollow that aged the girls...yeah......that would have been great..and what bugs me is that phil's no longer part of the series...he always was before..who's simon...you know there was a younger version with melanie and amy, or whatever their names were...they could have gone with that version...instead of doing what they did....

to go and recast the entire cast, was totally wrong.......

i loved the original cast...while i'm still watching the show...it just seems to out of place...

i think its part of the script, which i also dont like
but veronica's character in season 3 insisted that trespassing is a criminal offense..
if this is based in Canada, trespassing (whether on private property or not) is a civil offense, i didn't think she'd over exaggerate enough to compare trespassing with mass murder and theft, but meh, veronica is the character to do whatever to get what she wants

reply

it's actual based in Australia. idk the laws there o_O

I just saw the new season and man I was confused! I didnt know the cast was replaced. I just saw the show on, clicked to it, and I see a bunch of strangers! I agree with the age thing, everyone is so much younger that I can barley tell an age difference between the saddle club girls and the "little kids". and the conflicts are just weird. and even the character attitudes are different. why would Veronica be Stevies first choice as her replacement? last I checked Stevie disliked Veronica even more then Carol and Lisa did.. and since when would Veronica happily agree to such inclusion with the saddle club?

reply

lol...this post is confusing me....

yesterday and tuesday's eppy....i'm back to season one and season two......with the original cast......

and mrs reg...let me tell you actually behaves like i'd expect mrs reg to be...you know i might be able to get used to the new girls...but max and his mom, the recasts, i'm never going to get used to

Lauren who plays the new "Stevie" is from Ontario (just tossing in that fact) and it was all filmed in Australia where the show is based.
When the actors grow too old for the series, they have to change them in order to keep with the original 'idea' of the show. Uncertain why the adults would have also been replaced but it may have had something to do with availability etc.
One of the original actresses from the show was killed by a train this past May. Very sad. Jessica Jacob: http://teamsugar.com/1630923

keep with the original 'idea' of the show

you're being confused....it's not the idea of the show, but the idea of the books...

since they are based on books, that's why they had to keep the characters a certain age.....

The actors/actresses may be Canadian/Australian and its filmed in Australia, but the actual Saddle Club/Pine Hollow book series are set in Virginia, in the United States.

that makes much more sense, thanks!

I was just flipping through channels an hour ago and saw that Saddle Club was on. When I didn't recognize the episode description I started to get excited, thinking it was a new season.
Well I was right on that part, but I didn't expect to have a completely new cast playing the same characters! I only saw about five minutes of it; it just seemed too strange. I miss the old cast and certainly won't be watching this new season.

I watched two season 3 episodes yesterday.

I love watching The Saddle Club on Discovery Kids, but yesterday was just awful!

I was thinking "Great, The Saddle Club is on!" but then all I was thinking after that was "Wait.. Who is that? And her.. Who's she? Why is her name Carole? What? VERONICA?! Erm.. No.."

It doesn't even feel like The Saddle Club anymore.

It may have the same name, but it will never be The Saddle Club!

The Saddle Club died when season 2 ended.

This imposter Veronica just isn't the same as the snotty snob Veronica that we all love [to hate].

Sigh.

Oh well.

I actually fell asleep in the middle of the 2nd episode that I was watching. I just couldn't watch anymore. It wasn't the same.
