I thought she was really good in this.

I had mixed feelings about Debra Messing's performance in this film the more and more I think about it. I think Debra played the role with a great deal of energy and sincerity, however, Messing has always come off as such an intelligent screen presence that I found it hard to accept her in this sort of "dumb blonde" kind of role. In essence, I think she was miscast but I think she made it work.

Debra Messing in "Hollywood Ending" is eaily one of the two or three worst things Woody Allen has ever done in his entire career. To put it very mildly, she is awful.

I thought Debra Messing was ATROCIOUS in this film. BUT, looking at the film as a self-parody, maybe she was SUPPOSED to be horrible. Anyone agree?

reply

She was terrible and so was everyone else, too...nothing worked...terrible script...no logic to the blindness of Woody...he could not follow the voices of the people near him? Geez this was bad.

I have tried to appreciate Debra Messing in "Will & Grace" as well as this film, but she just tries my patience. I have seen her in a handful of other roles, including "Celebrity" and "The Mothman Prophecies," and I just think she's horrible.

Even though Woody's casting of younger actresses as his girlfriends is always a reach, it was never more so than with Debra Messing. They had no chemistry whatsoever. But her bad acting was perfect for the scenes where she was playing a bad actress.

Messing was very funny in this...she is not the first actress I would have thought of for playing this sort of empty-headed bimbo, but she really pulled it off.

reply

I think she was great. I haven't seen any episode of Will and Grace, so I didn'r have any expectations of how she is supposed to come off. I think this made me appreciate her performance better.

reply

She looks like she sweats a ton. Oily.

reply

I think Debra was GREAT in this role. She was hired to play a ditzy, yet pretty girl, who thought she was a much better actress than she was. I thought she was great.

Do NOT sit next to Dennis

reply

yeah, I thought her performance was a great take on the young, dumb "actress" that a successful Hollywood director would have.
