It's funny how all his movies end up being about him and the mess in his head.
Yes. It's always about his neurosis and his traumas and his mental imbalances in general. But there's more I see in common with other films of his:
- It's always a love story (good or bad, successful or failure)
- When he appears he's always quite a lot like himself (with nuances)
- He's always after hot chicks that are younger than him sometime
- He mostly has younger wifes/ lovers/ parters
- He shows his deep love for New York
- The score is mostly something out of the first half of the 20th century
Those are the first things that I can think of right now.
