There's one thing that's been bugging me. Basically, in the story, it turns out that Jake is a descendant from Jesus, and Mira from Mary Magdalene, and they have a baby which is the second coming. However. If they are both descendants from the ones mentioned. Doesn't that make them distant "blood" relatives?!!

Nothing actually proves a liaison between JC and Mary. This movie pre-date the Da Vinci Code which put back this theory (more or less plausible depending on your religious flexibility) on the table.
It is likely that they had opted for a non-liaison between the house of David (Jesus) and Benjamin (Mary).
Cheers for the reply. Yeah, I get ya. But then if Jake was a descendant from Jesus, then Jesus would still of had to of had kids with someone else, if not with Mary Magdalene? Unless, you could perhaps say that Jake descended from one of Jesus's brothers or something, and therefore would still be related to Jesus. If not directly, so to speak. Lol. :/
shareI think you are right as he wouldn't be a descendant of Jesus per se if he was a descendant of Jesus' brother or sister.
So the most likely possibility is that they actually are related... with a 60 generation gap more or less.
They could have increased the drama had they added a scene where Jesus and Mary couldn't be together, only to find out that 2000 years later, their descendants were finally reunited ;)
I only initially asked this question as to whether or not they were in fact related, as I was thinking it to be a bit "incestuous" if they were! Lol :/
