Underrated

While I feel like Nolan is overrated as a director, I have enjoyed some of his films and am curious why insomnia doesn't get more love. According to Rotten Tomatoes it's tied with Memento as the highest rated Nolan film with only the Dark Knight rated higher. I personally find it one of his most enjoyable films along with The Dark Knight and Memento. I also have a soft spot for the Prestige- even though it's flawed and I don't think the sci- fi element works well for a film previous grounded in reality. I have seen every Nolan film including Following, with the exception of Interstellar. I have not seen the original Insomnia so I can understand people not liking this one if they love the original cause I'm the same way. I was just wondering why Nolan fans consider this his weakest film- thanks for the help!!:-))

I agree it's overlooked.

Pachino actually puts in a really good performance and Williams is chilling at times.

Can't stop the signal.

Funny that you talk about it being supposedly his weakest film but at the same time mentionning it being top 3 on Rotten Tomatoes. Anyway even if it was his weakest movie, it doesn't mean it's a bad one. One of his movies has to be the worst, right? Which one is it in your opinion?

He didn’t write it and I think it’s the only film where he was a director-for-hire and… it’s his best film.

I wish he’d make more of these more traditional, less wanky films where you can, you know, hear the dialogue and stuff…
