The chase over the logs scene - your genune opinion

I was kind of looking forward to this and it was ...mediocre ...Nolan though he is a good director in many respects he just doesnt seem to be able to handle action sequences. In his other films too they are always clunky at best.

Also I just thought it added a false thrill to the movie - we as cinema goers KNOW that the good guy isnt going to get killed half way through...it came across as a bit James Bond-ish

The scene just seemed a bit pointless and not well executed to overcome that

I enjoyed it. That scene wasn't over the top but the obvious stunt men was unintentionally comedic. You got a 60 year old al and it looks like he's jumping around like a guy half his age.

the_departed94, I agree. lol I get a kick out of it every time. Especially Robin Williams' double and the way he runs over the logs.

Back off! ... Way off!

Sorry but no, unless the version I just watched is a different cut. It doesn't look like that at all ("jumping round half his age" and so on). Dormer struggles and stumbles from the first step and falls through the gap pretty quickly. And anyway, not all 60 year olds are infirm, you know.

They're not?!
Seriously though, I found the trapped-underwater scene very suspenseful. I can't swim.

Something about the way Finch's mustard coat is flailing behind him as he runs cracks me up.
At the start of the chase, despite his haste Dormer responsibly takes the time to shut the door so the dogs won't get out.
They obviously had to make it more dramatic so they threw in a few obstacles, but did they really have to show the fence, then Dormer's face, then the fence? I could hear him thinking "what have I got myself into". I was wondering whether he could do it - stuntman?
The whole thing was a real life version of the game Frogger. Somebody did a mock-up on YouTube so I can never see the scene with a straight face again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBpo2mv4PPQ
Bonus: Finch's smug face at the end as the logs drift past and Dormer trudges back in failure.

I thought the part where he fell in the water... I wasn't expecting it, and then it became this absolute nightmare. Sure, it stretched plausibility, but it might be the most memorable moment of the movie for me.

Lol I have 20/20 vision and honestly didn't notice the stuntmen. I was genuinely impressed and enthralled with that scene. Just watched it

It was a cool concept, but I just could not suspend my disbelief. I mean, the logs are floating down the river, right? There is just no way old ass al Pacino could end up exactly back on a ladder. You even see in the wide shot how far the current has taken them in just a couple of seconds.

To be honest, up to that point I wasn't really into the movie that much, kinda wished he drowned.
