Watched it again yesterday...


Ghastly. Terrible acting, awful attempts to "open" it up. Insanely inappropriate soundtrack.

Judi Dench survived. Rupert Everett did not. He literally swallowed every word, just as he did in "An Ideal Husband." Read the play or watch the 1952 version. Reese Witherspoon. The mind reels.

Nothing wrong in opening up adaptation of stage plays or else they might just film on a stage!

Watched it for the first time this morning. It's not a bad attempt.

i agree it's quite dreadful. Full of bizarre stuff that has nothing to do with the play. particularly bad i think is the way the second and third acts are imagined to be happening over several days, which enyirely destroys the humour of it all happening in a single afternoon.
