cancelled?

Did Trading Spaces get cancelled, or just moved to a new night? I've noticed that it is no longer on Saturday nights.

I think it's been canceled. A look at the TS bulletin boards on TLC's website has a couple of threads in which people discuss the end of the show. And, for what it's worth, Wikipedia talks about the show in the past tense in its Trading Spaces entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trading_Spaces

Well, according to several of the homeowners who appeared on the last season of the show, it had been cancelled. I recall specifically some of them saying that at the season-ending "wrap" Party, many of the production crew said that these were the last episodes. Plus, previously the site had included a link to apply to be on the show, and that function had been removed. Certainly a good portion of the cast moved on...

However, inexplicably, the fan site is now advertising a new season starting in October, with, "some" of the old designers returning. However, as far as I can tell, still no Paige Davis. If either Doug (who has a new show, but had been doing both), Hildi, or Frank don't return I won't watch.

My ex boyfriend got me into this show. I watched it religiously from 2002-2005. They lost me when they fired Paige Davis. This show needs a host; someone to be judge and referee and hand-holder. And Paige was great at it. If the new season is more of the same as the last two seasons, I won't watch.

A note to TLC/Banyan Productions:

If you want Trading Spaces to be a hit again:

1.) Hire back Paige Davis. If she is unavailable, unwilling, or unpalatable, then hire someone else to host the show. The hostless format is a bust.

2.) Two rooms, two days, $1000 dollars in each room, 1 carpenter. PERIOD. No more gimmicks.

Repeat to yourself, "It's just a show."
