i always thought that cosby bought up the rights to some racist show.. but now i hear that was untrue... if that the case.. are all of the original episode still available?

All of the Roach talkies have been released to VHS. I think some have been released to DVD, but I don't think all.
The 52 MGM shorts have never had an "official" release, but some of them have appeared on compilations. The "Goodlife" cable channel aired all 52 for a about three years, ending a year or so ago.
The silent shorts are pretty hit-and-miss. Some have, but not a whole lot. Also, there are a half dozen or so that are considered lost.
