I saw another good one yesterday. I think its called HIDE AND GO SHRIEK: The one where Alfalfa, Porky and Buckwheat (where was Spanky that day?) are detectives looking for the guys who stole Darla's candy and they end up in a haunted house amusement ride. What a hoot! I remember watching that one as a kid. Buckwehats facial expressions when he sees the skeletons at the organ are priceless!

"Teacher's Pet" or "Pups Is Pups" are my favorites. Both made during the worst years of the Depression (which were of course the best years of the show), they are funny, there is pathos, and there's no lecture crammed down your throat.

I guess I'd lean toward "Pups Is Pups" if I had to pick one. It's where Wheezer runs all over town with a group of puppies; the dogs respond every time they hear the ringing of a bell. At one point, Wheezer fears the dogs lost, panics, sees an alarm on the side of a building, throws a rock at the bell-like alarm and of course the rock sails through a glass window instead. It may not sound like much but if you've seen the episode, you'll know what I mean -- it had everything: laughs, beauty, a striking Depression-era landscape and most of all, it had heart. A real winner. Give it a look if you haven't seen it.
