I believe it was the actor that played him, grew up to become a Seventh Day Adventist, and had all of his fingers cut off, over a ring, while being robbed. He was an elderly man when that happened, that was sad.

I don't think there was a ring involved. I'm not really sure what his motive was, actually.
The man was arrested soon after, and I believe he died in prison not too long ago.
Was Darwood Kaye struck down in his youth? I remember reading about one of the child actors, getting hit when he was just 14.
shareI think you are referring to the ac tor who played "Froggy". Was Darwood his name? He was hit by a truck, he was either 17 or 18. I was shocked to hear him in another movie using his real voice.
