Heath Ledger fee was only 50k?

I say 'only' when obviously 50k is a lot of money

But on Heath Ledgers biography in years BEFORE this film was made, he was paid $3 million to act in other films - and yet he takes a huge huge pay cut to 50k?

The only reason i can think he did that was bcause he thought maybe this film would be a fantastic film to be in (and so the fee was irrelevant) From an actor point of view you know, it would be good for his career to be in it etc

What do you think?

Heres his biography where it says, scroll to the bottom where it has his fees

In the same year that George Clooney was paid tens of millions of dollars to star in The Perfect Storm he did O' Brother Where Art Thou? for 500k, because he wanted to be in the film and wanted to work with the Coen Brothers. I assume it was the same sort of thing here.

if he was paid millions of dollars in a previous film, he could probably afford to do one for 50k...
