Bit disappointing really.
Compared to recent great films of a similar vein like The Proposition and Jesse James it's very sentimental and feels very forced throughout. The screenplay was rather poor in places as well.
shareI think the bottom line with this movie is, it could have been so much better. Heath Ledger and Rush alone would have been enough to deliver a better film. But the director went down the wrong road, and added things like a unessecary love story etc. The director should be dissapointed.
shareI'm always amazed at how (perhaps due to the "auteur theory") so many people imagine the director is responsible for everything in a movie. What you're talking about is a script decision, possibly dictated by the director but in no way should we assume that.
