The Give and Take Between Davis and Leary

I am with those who say this movie is underrated. Severely so, I think. The two leads have never given better performances that I am aware of. [Disclosure: I really like Denis Leary as an actor, and really detest the acting of Hope Davis; upshot: I was prepared for the way she excelled in Treatment, Second Season.] Those who think the plot is so shabby and filled with holes: I could not disagree more. It all hangs together if you watch closely. Oh, you didn't see the scene in which Leary says the tree line is moving? You can't be movie sleuths if you're such sloppy viewers Fortunately other posts have dealt with all the plot questions, extremely well; so I will not recapitulate. The main charge of this movie is the electricity that flickers between the two leading characters. The plot could actually be shabby, but the central situation would still be topnotch. I put this at the top of my favorite movies list! And this is only my third viewing. "What happened to those thick fingerss?"
