Unprofessional Doctor

Did anybody think Ann was unprofessional at her work, given everything emotional/humane/romance stuff aside.

A doctor is supposed to handle all kind of sick people, suffering people, spirited people, dying people, basically all kind of people all the time???

Being so emotional will impact the ability to see a human as biological body that gets defective and needs to be repaired with the same way as a mecanic works on a car or a carpenter works on a furniture.

I wonder if she will be able to perform any major surgery on anyone close to her like her sister, or what happens when her next patient is in similar situation with similar personality, what if there are 10 patients whom she visits in the hospital and all of them are quite a personality and associated with some sort of tragedy?

May be I am asking all this because I am not looking at the other side of it, because I hate love story and love sci-fi movies. I accept my interest and disinterest has a great deal on how I see this, but just want to see if anyone agrees with me?

The sense I get from this film, in terms of the characters involved, is similar to the sense that I get from the building it is set within. We can't judge what we see in this film by the standards of today. A sickness has ravaged the world, and has left it broken. There are few new things, because the only people left alive are struggling to stay that way, and may have been forced by circumstances into the roles they occupy. In another life, Anne probably wouldn't have been who she was as we saw her, or at the very least, she would have received different training, and been brought up in a different cultural context.
