Is this an original movie?

I was just wondering if its original or does it rip-off other movies because its something really unique.

hi, queptor :)! I haven't seen Bug (though i'm going to see it in the Hallmark Channel tomorrow :D), but the premise (about people affecting other peoples' lives) reminds me of the wonderful movie "TWO WEEKS IN THE VALLEY" :D!!! If you're into these "6 degrees" kinda films, you should see that too :)!

I'm not sure if Bug's a rip off of that, but it probably isn't. Either way, i believe Bug is an original film that was written by Matt Manfredi for the film. I know it's not based on a play or book if that's what yer wonderin' ;)

It's not the most original movie ever made, since there are a ton of movies that have a large cast of characters with interweaving plots (Crash, Magnolia, Short Cuts, Nashville, etc.) However, this movie is like those on steroids. It follows sooo many people around, and kind of abruptly turns and follows someone else for a while, and so on and so forth. It's a bit like Richard Linklater's "Slacker," except that this movie returns to some of its characters and they actually have subplots. Plus, Slacker had a cast of roughly 100 people and I don't think this movie has nearly that many.
