Sorry, I haven't had time to do anything on here, and still don't. This past weekend, I've had papers to write, and a website I'm an admin at has recently gotten so popular that our bandwidth limitation has become a real issue. Not to mention that we have a ton of new members and I have to keep a more vigilant eye on everything. Whenever I can, I'll get back to this discussion.

Okay, I'm far too busy to do any sort of argument on this movie anymore. Homework + work + managing multiple sites = no time for this stuff. Besides, there's a lot of stuff regarding the future state of things more important to bother with than this. So I'll say this (I had skimmed through your post in the other topic before): I hadn't read your review, I still maintain that people dislike this movie because it's misunderstood, and there are plenty of movies out there that I'd have to label as "bad" before this one would ever even come up for consideration in any light.

Though to add real fast, I find it fascinating how people who hate a particular movie can't pry themselves away from discussing how they don't like it on boards made for the main intent to allow people who liked it to talk about it.

At first I thought this guy might actually be the writer. His replies jump around as much as the movie does. I will reiterate a statement I made in your questions about the movie thread, boards like this are for people who hate the movie too. People who are looking into seeing the movie are looking for honest opinions so that they can make an informed choice. This isn't an egoboard for every movie made, it's OPINIONS. That does include the negative ones as well. It also serves another terrific purpose, it's cathardic. I have to get it out of my head before I go to sleep or I'll wake up pissed off in the morning...

How did I end up here tonight? I just watched this on late night TV. It reminds me of the days of Gilbert Gottfried and his "Up all night" B movie marathons. The movies were so bad, they were interesting. That's what this movie is. I saw "The Un-nameable" on that show. Unspeakable falls into this category. It does so because the plot is poorly developed, it spends too much time on too many different lines of thought and no time in vesting us in ANY of the characters, plenty of it should have been on the cutting room floor because it convolutes the story. It has "copycat" written all over it with many different movies it draws from to create it (the biggest parallel being with Silence of the Lambs but many others as well, perhaps for a bit of flavor???) It tells you it's metaphysical, apocalyptic, psychic phenomenon but it fails to deliver this in the writing; never staying on one part long enough for anyone to really believe it. I cared NOTHING for any of the characters. If it had been any good in that aspect, I might have cried for the innocent man made to die for something he didn't commit, the mother who turned her back on her son while he was beaten (again, I'm told this, I don't feel it) even for Mowatt himself but NADA!! And WHY does he make her imagine having sex with him? What the hell does that have to do with the storyline? Because he can? Give me a break, it was gratuitous and probably gave it a few more viewers (might have even been the reason someone agreed to back it- I've heard "add X number of sex scenes and we'll take it) but not at all necessary to the story. There's a lot of that in this movie, unecessary crap. The fact that the movie is shorter than your usual film makes the crap even more blatant. It needed far more development before it ever should have been produced. We should have been happy to see Dennis Hopper's character die because he's supposed to be an *beep* but again, told this not feeling it. I think that perhaps Pavan could do something more, there is a sliver of potential there and if he tries, then he can look back on this as "the days he made crap before he hit it big" but he's got to learn from this attempt. If you are Pavan, then listen to this because good authors take brutal criticism, that's what makes them grow! If you aren't him then tell him because somebody should. Hell, if this was a misunderstood but brilliant film, it would have a cult following of some sort- it even fails in that regard...

So are those enough SPECIFIC points for you or would you like me to continue??

Who care where he went - as long as he's not writing another movie at this time!

I just finished watching the movie and it is so horrible that I am glad it was part of a monthly rental package from the local video store - so it makes the rental cost less than 20 cents - which is about what the value of this movie is worth....

There is nothing to discuss - SHOCKER was a much better electric chair movie....this one just blows so much smoke up our butts that I can't believe why anyone would defend this POS!

Maybe Pavan has continued in the medical profession, as he is a Doctor.
Unspeakable was the last movie he has writing credits for.
