I don't remember the beginning of the Mummy Returns too well, but what I got was that the S.K. made a pact with a god for power for revenge. I missed the beginning of this movie. Where does him making this pact take place or does it take place at all?

shareHe was apparently already into his king term quite a ways, when in fact in this movie he just became king at the end. Then the events of The Mummy Returns takes place.

"The Scorpion King" takes place approximately 10 years before the story of the Scoripion King that is told in "The Mummy Returns". There is no explanation given in either movie about what happens to him during the time between the beginning of his rule as king and when he sells his soul to Anubis. This is why "The Scorpion King" is considered a spin-off of the Mummy movies, not a prequel.
