Full Retard

Sean Penn totally went full retard in this movie. That's why he didn't get an Oscar nom.

reply

bahaha Yes look at tom hanks in forrest gump he went half retard won oscar or dustin hoffman in rain man also half retard (autist).
im sure theers more examples of half retard roles winning oscar

reply

I think that you both are using completly disrespectful language and should be ashamed of yourselves.

reply

I agree.
It's nomination, not nom.

reply

aren't you just a sarcastic little ray of sunshine who attempts clever humour? :D:D:D:D

reply

This isn't Nom, there are Rules!

reply

HAHA, I just watched Lebowski last night. That is one of the best lines.

reply

You never go full retard

reply

If Frank Fontaine had spun off Crfazy Guggenheim from THE JACKIE GLEASON American Scene Magazine into, say, a 1960s flick, d'/ya think it woulda won the Oscar? (I saw, y, 60s due to that being the heydey and Frank died 1978.)

Or the original THE HONEYMMONERS had a movie spinoff, maybe he would've won (like he did for a similiar chaacter in HARRY AND TONTO in 1974.More on the serious side,though..)

reply

or look at Peter Sellers in Being There. Infantile yes, retarded no. Sean Penn went full retard.

reply

do you realise that the word "retard" is completely offensive, or it is in Britain anyway.

reply

Do you "realise" that in America, "realise" is spelled realize? And retard was a term used in Tropic Thunder directed by Ben Stiller. If you watched the movie you would understand that this entire forum is based on part of the script off that movie.

reply

Do you "realise" that in America, "realise" is spelled realize?

...And in Britain it isn't. Lucy-r-wills is obviously British. What does that have to do with anything?

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

reply

Well I hate to upset anyone but in Britain both forms are fine - indeed using a z would be considered 'more correct' by many traditionalists.

reply

I think the third answer here is pretty good: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Arts-and-Literature/Question93903.html

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

reply

omg i love your respone! the language you speak is ENGLISH! so i would assume that the correct version would be the one that the ENGLISH use!! for some reason this would make sense to me...

reply

Continue to be offended.

best thread on all of IMDB right now

reply

Ok, I gotta see this movie now. It's available on my cable box, so I'm gonna watch it and tell you what I think.

reply

Good movie. Great acting by Penn. Good drama and had some very funny parts. Definitely much more difficult of an acting role that some of the "less retarted" roles.

reply

He did get an Oscar nomination, you retards! If he hadn't gone full retard he might have won. Leo was nominated but didn't win when he went full retard in "Gilbert Grape."

reply

He should have won, going completely retarted is much more challenging than going half like Tom Hanks did in Forrest Gump, I think Sean was more deserving of an oscar than Tom Hanks was.

reply

Ah yes, but look at Cuba Gooding in Radio. He cranked the Retard-o-Meter up to 11, and look what happened. Didn't even get nominated.

reply

[deleted]

hahaaa, Tropic Thunder.

:P

reply

That's not funny... but, I guess you sort of made a point. I guess he just made too much of a effort.

reply

you guys take this Tropic Thunder thing WAAAAYYYY too seriously

reply

i've never seen tropic thunder, is it good?

reply

tropic thunder is hilarious!
and very well made, at least i think so

reply

I KNEW someone was going to post a thread about this

NEVER GO FULL RETARD

I'M A LEAD FARMER MOTHERFU*KER

reply

yes This Ssam had a midleadingly low iq that was why he was given minimal tasks to do like I have quite bad mental retardation and slight autism and find it very difficut to self direct. I can do things with support but that just proves how badly in the moderate range I am.

reply

O man, I was just coming here to post the same thing.

I mean- you never go full retard.

-Everybody! Get this! Did you hear this thing about Scientology? Turns out it's bad...

reply

Sean Pean 2001 I Am Sam went full retard, went home empty handed. Never go full retard man

reply

[deleted]

Ok fine you want a REAL criticism of the movie?

The acting sucked, the camera angles were horrible, the plot makes no sense (there is no way a fully retarded man would get custody of that child, just no way). And yes, SEAN PENN WENT FULL RETARD. You NEVER go full retard, man!

So there. The cinematography sucked, the acting sucked, and the story sucked. You might even say the writers went... FULL RETARD!

reply

PizzaGuy, if you really think the acting sucked in this movie, then you, sir, have gone full retard.

reply

[deleted]

So what does that make you? Seen as American ancestral history is a big part of Britain. Goddamn retard.

reply

Im sorry... in response to the comment about british people by Tav-El I would like to say:

Firstly mate the language you are speaking is ENGLISH therefore by claiming that spelling realise with a 'z' is right you are making yourself sound stupid, english language comes from england wheres england hmmmm in britain who live in britain, oh yeh the british, and you claim we are spelling it wrong

If you are an american claiming that the british are not entirely human you might want to look at your own lineage mate. You have probably deascended from the germans, the italians, the irish and the naive indians.

Which would make you an anal fixated, fat, drunk, red skinned inbred hick.

I could go on but your brain might overload by reading all the ENGLISH.

reply

and Dustin Hoffman didn't go full retard, remember he was amazing with numbers and ended up winning tons of cash with his brother?

reply

Wow... you just went full retard in a thread warning you of the dangers of going full retard. Congrats tard

reply

Taw-El said on my brithday, Dec.8, 2008, the FOLLOWING:
"The word "realize" is spelled with a "z". Who cares what people in Britain do?"

So do Canadians, AUstralians, the Sotch, the Welsh, and the Irish, bigot.

"They're not really fully human."
Oh? I saw "The Best Esxotic Marigold Hotel" today with my mother and the British there were VERY FULLY human.

"And like the others, I agree, you never go full retard. "

Well, we agree there!

YEah! Except currently for the second, who I'm not fsamiliar with...

reply

Wow, theblur3419, looks like you've learned your lesson from "Tropic Thunder".

Firt, you should learn how to speak out your OWN opinions, and not the opinions of the writers of "Tropic Thunnder".

Second, your post makes NO sense at all and you should rewatch the movie with a more objective way and a new eye. Sean Penn didn't get FULL RETARD AT ALL, simply because the caracters he plays realized on HIS OWN, that he needed help to raise his daughter. Someone fully retard couldn't have realized that.

reply

guy, chill out. its just a thread for fun. you're like the kid on the playground that nobody wants to play with because you have lice.

reply

By the way, anyone bother looking up who was nominated that year to see what sort of competition Penn had?

Training Day - Denzel Washington
A Beautiful Mind - Russell Crowe
Ali - Will Smith
I Am Sam - Sean Penn
In the Bedroom - Tom Wilkinson

And it was Washington that won! IMHO, it should have been Russ had he not gone violent with a phone.

As for Penn not winning an oscar for being "full retard", something that I find rather offensive too, that's complete and utter crap.

Take a look at these films and actors

Dustin Hoffman, Rain Man
Angelina Jolie, Girl, Interrupted
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Jack Nicholson

What do these actors and films have in common? They ALL were about people who went "full retard" (and Sam was tame compared to Jolie's Lisa) and they all WON!

So the proper question is: why did Denzel Washington win?

Oh, and the Oscars are usually not about the best films, actors etc. Hollywood is VERY political

Obi-Wan is my hero!

reply

Jack Nicholson and Anjelina Jolie didn't go full retard. They played crazy people, actually Jack played a guy pretending to be crazy. So 2/3's of your point is invalid. The last third would also crack under intense scrutiny......

reply

first of all have you ever seen Training Day?
Denzel Washingtons performance as Alonzo was not only the best of the year but one of the best of the decade so far

Sean Penn, as good as he was wasnt as good as Denzel
Russel Crowe, not as good either, but better than Penn
Will Smith, kind of overated performance, his serious role just struck people by suprise thats why i believe he got nominated

other guys had no chance against Denzel

but think about this, both, Sean Penn & Russel Crowe in their movies were Full Retard & Full Crazy.
So never go full anything, only half. Like Denzel in training day, half normal guy half psychotic killer
