I swear not original, fairy tale ?

I, Thirty years ago I loved fairy tales, And read many hundred Always looking for uncensored/original versions, alternative endings, and when I saw this film, I knew what was about to happen and the ending, I half remember this from a fairy tale anthology, She was a runaway princess, Her Father the King, She believed to be cruel, When her Father rescued her, She chose the punishment's Her Father delighted she was now curler than he.
So if anyone knows the real made of this story please let me know, The story may have been set in China, I just no longer remember,
