Utter crap French pretentious wank

Slow as molasses and devoid of story. Another gem from a music video /
commercial young director given millions to helm a feature.Looks good,
but sucks gas.

Another comment from some wank american who can't think :)

reply

Another ignorant, arrogant, and pretentious comment from some wank European who can’t think.

Honestly, I apologize, as I will not stereotype every European based on the previous inconsiderate and adolescent remark. In fact, I know plenty of Europeans who are nothing like many of the prick Euros represented here on IMDB.

What is it with the European IMDB users? Anyone who is reasonably intelligent (as so many of your type claim to be) would not make such arrogant responses. I am guessing (and hoping) you are simply an uneducated teenager that will some day see things differently.

reply

I fail to see how your post has anything to do with the topic. And could you elaborate on 'European type'? First you 'try' to evade generalisation trap, only to fall in it the very next sentence. Make up your mind.

reply

Anything to do with the topic? It was a response to the arrogant remark before me.

What seemed to be contradicting statements in my post may have been just that. On the other hand, more of it was simply sarcasm to prove a point.

I apologize if i have offended you. I should not have responded with the same tone and with the same generalizations that the 'traveler' poster did. However, it was done to make a point. I often get quite fed up with some of the arrogant European users on this site. Unfortunately, I felt I had to fire back once. Was is right? NO. But, sometimes a little taste of their own medicine is not always too bad of a thing.

Like I said in my previous post, I know many Europeans who are the best people, I do not mean to generalize.

So, again, I apologize if i have offended you, but if you can not see the generalizations in his response, then i am sorry. Mine was simply a sarcatic comeback with an added apology.

reply

This continuous blaiming and apologizing and trying to avoid of generalization gets ridiculous, like so often on any forum of any subject. You can't have a conversation without now and then talking about "we", "you" and "them", and everybody (except a complete wank) realizes it doesn't literally mean every single european, american etc.

I think we europeans are just blaiming americans for all the crap Hollywood does and the more arrogant (and generalizing) ones of us assume people in America actually like it and have no taste.

As for arrogance in general, I'd say we're pretty even on both sides. Americans just seem to do it without noticing themselves, we europeans take pride of it ;)

I don't think the movie's pretentious, though I can see why someone would think so. If one has enough experience on french comics (as I think I have), it's clear that the movie fallows that tradition, even though it strays very far from Blueberry itself.

PS. that "complete wank" was just joke on the tone this thread started with; not meaning tiger or anyone

reply

I don't quite understand you.

In the first posting, somebody called the film "French crap".

Now I guess it's safe to assume that mastershaman is from the US and I guess the followup posting was just a reply in the same tone.

And considering the "topic" of this discussion I guess it was "crap french films" to start with and I really wonder whether that is actually something that needs to be "discussed" for it more resembles the flinging of crap than a discussion.

It's pretty ironic that the second poster thought the first was an ignorant american, and that you, tigerslam18, then replied with the stereotypical assumption that that person was from Europe. So where is the difference between you and the other person? I guess there is none. But on top of that you get out the other discussion killer - the other person must be juvenile to make such a remark. I guess the next step up the ladder would be calling each other racist.

I'd suggest in the future you refrain from taking part in discussions of this sort. They lead nowhere. Because in the end I guess if we'd all live in the US and nobody from anywhere else in the world was allowed to post on IMDb, we'd call each other names depending on where in the US we'd live.

Which also leads us nowhere.

reply

Somehow that reminds me of Monty Python's Argument skit.

Sometimes people just want to argue and these forums are the place for it. It doesn't have to "lead anywhere".
Journey is more important than the destination. :)

... and getting back on topic.

For a Moebius -fan, Blueberry definitely didn't fill up the promises. Strange acid-trip-of-a-movie.

I would imgaine Giraud himself wasn't too happy to see this.

reply

I don't know anything about French comics, and don't like comics at all.
But liked this movie. It has it's style, and I didn't find it slow.
Great visuals - certainly not by comic book :D

Why calling it French when it is American/French/Mexican ?

reply

pkpera..like your opinion.
liked the movie.
please guys..lets just watch movies and like it or not
care less where you from...

This movie is garbage. It looks like an ad for a screensaver company.

reply

i see this place fills with empathy and constructiveness as ever :)

well im french, im 27, i've been brought up with the Blueb's, of which my parents were die hard fans, i've read the whole series a few times and this movie is nowhere close to grasping the begining of an idea of what Blueberry is.

Loosely based on "les mines de l'allemend perdu" and "le spectre aux balles d'or", it lacks the focus on the story tremendously, and devolves into something i couldn't really deal with (being a fan of the comics book).
don't get me wrong, im a weed smoker and a psylocib connoisseur, and i infinitely loved movies such as "loathing las vegas" or "the Doors", but this is too vague and inconsistent.
the movie in itself is pretty good, and as someone said, the directing and the photography is purely amazing....it's simply nowhere close to the comic book.
i even wonder why they named it Blueberry tbh.

Charlier must be going mad in his box.

So if you don't know the comics and like mystical trips, you will most certainly appreciate it for what it's worth.
I seriously doubt anyone really into the lore of the comics could ever identify with THE Blueb however. ever.

and jeez, get rid of vincent cassel please. you americans should adopt him :)

reply

Crap yes, but it's not on the level where I would use the word pretentious. Even if it had been done better it would be ultimately low-brow. But as it is there is no market at all for this schlock.

reply

I can understand why people knowing the actual comic don't really like this movie too much. The comic is way more down to earth then the movie.
just imagine it's a coincidence that the title is the same, and see the movie in a complete other light, and it's actually pretty good. I don't think they really wanted to copy the comic.

Oh, not that it matters... but it's half Belgian (written by Jean-Michel Charlier, someone from Liege - Belgian). so it'd be Utter crap Franco-Belgian pretentious wank

reply

It does say something like "Loosely based on the Blueberry comic" at the beginning of the film and 'Mobius' was involved in the film (He's in it somewhere...see if you can spot him!) So, I'm sure he woulda said something about it NOT been anything to do with the comic...like I jus said and they musta agreed...LOOSELY BASED ON.
Jean Gerrard/ Mobius appeared in the previously filmed documentary, Other Worlds, by Jan. This was about his personal journey to south america to be initiated into Ayahuasca use, where he met the REAL Shaman who plays pretty much himself in the film.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..this is an awesome film.

reply

Utter crap Franco-Belgian pretentious wank
Indeed. We shouldn't forget the Belgians.

reply

Yes its unfortunate that you cant appreciate this film, i feel kind of sorry for you. But then I look at your message board history and see that you tend to only make comments about how bad a film his. This is sure to get a troll some much loved negative attention. Foolish fool.
