Is the sub actually haunted?

just watched this recently again, so I thought I'd come and read any threads here, noticed several about why the ghost came back and why it killed nearly everyone etc. People commented that only the guilty were killed by the ghost, the other deaths were 'accidents'

Having rewatched it, and anyone please confirm or deny this, but were the guilty parties on board the sub the only ones to actually see the ghost? I thought it seemed that way, and it made me wonder if the sub was actually haunted at all. Also, doesn't someone say earlier in the film that something in the sub that can cause hallucinations? I just wondered whether those guilty imagined the ghost through guilt, thus all other deaths on board were just accidents?

Uhhh, stewardwolf, I thought the movie was pretty clear! The doc sees the ghosts several times, and several of the crew hear or see ghosts, most notably when ALL 4 divers see the ghost in the water spray when fixing the oil leak!

On top of that, the sub CHANGES COURSE, LOCKS STEERING, LOCKS THROTTLE, LOCKS DEPTH, AND RETURNS TO THE SCENE OF SINKING NO MATTER WHAT THE CREW DOES.... in what way is that not clearly supernatural intervention?!

Yes, oxygen deprivation (like when the mix of hydrogen in the air is too high, which is what happens on the sub) can make your thinking groggy and irrational. Also, it seems to me that ALL the deaths were accidents, except the Leiutanant's. However, whether driven by guilt, fear, or whatever else, it does seem that only the people seeking to get to the bottom of things actually survived to the end. In a situation like that, I don't think a ghost has to necessarily DIRECTLY kill anyone to make sure the guilty parties all die.

Of course this is not a ghost story. They think they saw a ghost for various reasons: no air for most of them and maybe one because of guilt. The others because of closed quarters, and panic.
Well staged.
Should be 7,5

Why then is it the british lady the first one to state that the ship is haunted? She didn't even know about the murder at that point.

No. Claire, who was a victim, not a guilty party, sees the captain's ghost lying in his bunk. And didn't Stumbo and Zach Galifianakis see the captain's ghost when they were between hulls, doing repairs? They were not guilty; they knew nothing about what happened to the hospital ship.
