No Fire Alarms? [SPOILERS]

While it did make for a great scene when they discover what had happened in the aft compartment still I'm pretty sure that even a WWII-era submarine would have some fire alarms on board. There was no reason for no one in the fore compartments to know that a flash fire had broken out in back.
