Repair scene; possible spoilers

Can anyone (who actually knows what they are talking about) comment on the underwater repair scene? Would a WWII sub on a combat patrol have the equipment to carry out underwater repairs like that? Did the technology even exist? The dive suits were artificial looking.

You're right. Up until that scene the film had tremendous verisimilitude; it really blew it at that scene. For a decent look at the state of navy diving at the time, see Men of Honor.

I wouldn't have thought so, because I thought the sub was supposed to be lying on the floor of the ocean at that point, but I guess it does depend how deep they were.🐭
